Popular South Indian actress Genelia, who recently migrated to Bollywood with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Life Partner and Chance Pe Dance, has denied rumours of her forthcoming marriage with actor Riteish Deshmukh.
Earlier, a Mumbai-based tabloid reported that the actors became very close ever since the shooting of Tujhe Meri Kasam(2003) and their relationship is now heading towards marriage. The report also said that both families have approved the match and the marriage will take place in July this year.
However, these reports are far from true, say Genelia and Ritiesh Deshmukh on Twitter, strongly rubbishing these marriage reports.
Genelia's message on the site said, "No guys Im nt at al gettn married, sum irrespnsible journo is respnsible4dis news n its sad dat dey posses no ethics n smply fabricate stuff." Even Riteish didn't lag behind and posted on Twitter, "There is no truth to the article suggesting that i am getting married. Actually not a single line printed in that article is true."
Rajkumar Hirani is quite satisfied with the final outcome of 3 IDIOTS.
"In your heart you should be satisfied with what you have made and in case of 3 IDIOTS I was pretty much satisfied a few days back itself when I saw the final copy. It didn't make me cringe and that was enough. That's the way I want my future films to be as well where I can proudly look back at the work I have done", says Hirani who now holds the distinction of having an all time blockbuster under his belt.
Coming to his future plans, grapevine is abuzz that 2010 would see him getting back with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi for MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA; a definite word is still awaited from all concerned. He promises though that one factor which would remain consistent in his films would be 'keeping things simple'
Shahrukh Khan (SRK), the iconic Indian Movie Star and the king of Bollywood, was subject of additional inspection and questioning by the immigration officers at the Newark airport, New Jersey. He was en route to Chicago to attend an event related to Indian Independence day celebrations.
SRK claims that he was singled out due to his Muslim last name – Khan. He added that the immigration officer was not convinced with any of his explanation about the trip.
The US Immigration and Customs office denies that his last name had anything to do with the additional questioning; he was stopped due to missing baggage. As per the statement from the Customs, everything was done professionally and by the book. It is common for a customs officer to ask someone to step aside for additional inspection if they are not satisfied with the interview.
It is ironic that SRK was in USA earlier this year shooting a Hindi movie titled ‘ My name is Khan’. The film is about the experiences of a Muslim in America.
Another remote possibility is that it was all planned by SRK; a thought that I could not resist.Considering how good an actor he is, he may have staged the whole drama. This incident turned out to be a very good publicity for him and his upcoming movie. Everybody is now talking about ‘My Name is Khan’ all of a sudden, which will be released worldwide soon.
Most of the Americans have no exposure to the Bollywood dramas, so they are bound to treat any Indian – VIP or not – the same way, especially when they don’t recognize the person as a big shot, like in this case. The department of homeland security and the immigration system in USA is very strict. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the paranoia is everywhere. A Muslim last name, Khan, doe not help either, even though the Customs Office deny any profiling based on last names.

While SRK deserve the VIP treatment, the American Customs system does not operate based on VIP identity, you can ask the Hollywood star and politicians. Recall the recent event from earlier this month when former President Bill Clinton brought home two freed U.S. journalists from North Korea. The first people to greet the plane were the immigration officers. Everybody who comes from abroad has to go through them, even the former President. That is the policy; that is the process. If the immigration officers had known SRK, the treatment may have been a little different, may be the process a little faster, but not totally eliminated.
It is unfortunate that SRK had to live through this experience. However, India may take a lesson from the incident. In India, everything is about VIP treatment. You better be famous (VIP) or rich (so you can bribe you way through the system) to move through the checkpoints quickly and without hassle.
It is about time that we learn from this. In India, the power abuse and corruption are our biggest enemies. We should rather have everybody properly inspected when they get into India. If you remember the massacre of innocent people at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai last year, the intruders came from Pakistan. May be we could have averted the whole thing if our immigration system was more vigilant. It still is not too late.
As for as SRK, he has been to USA so many times, this is probably his only visits where he had to put up with all this. Hopefully this does not affect his travels to USA, or his views about the country.
I still think that SRK won by the end of the day, and we learned a very valuable lessons:
Watch ‘May Name is Khan’ when it opens in theaters.
It has got an amazing star cast, starring Aamir Khan as Ryan, Kareena Kapoor as Neha Kurien, Sharman Joshi as Alok, Madhavan as Hari and Boman Irani as Professor Kurien.
To add to this star cast, we have the team which gave us the “Munna Bhai” series as the director and producer. Vidhu Vinod Chopra surely has pulled of a casting coup by convincing Aamir Khan to do this film. This will be Aamir’s next release after “Ghajini”. Synopsis
Ryan , a handsome and adventurous young man, loves his friends more than anything else (more than his parents too). He hates being a book worm like other of his college mates, so always ends up getting low grades in his college exams. He believes in doing things his way, and ends up having five pointers as his GPA.
Hari , a shy guy by nature wants to be handsome like Ryan. He is average at studies (pretty bad/funny at viva. He falls in love with Neha Kurien (his Professor’s daughter). He always messes up when he attempts to impress Mr Kurien (his professor).
Alok is a simple boy who wants to get good grades and earn money to overcome poverty of his family.
I believe Hirani doesn’t want to give away the look of his protagonists soon, which is why the teaser doesn’t have any of the actors in it. The shoot of the film has already begun at Shimla, Ladakh, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. The shoot is supposed to be over by December though release dates are not confirmed yet.
One thing that may go against the movie is that the book, “Five Point Someone” had its protagonists playing 18-22 year olds initially atleast. It remains to be seen if Aamir, Madhavan and gang can pull that off. I have a feeling that the movie will not be a complete adaptation of the book, instead the book will just be a base from which the screenplay will be built on
Shantanu Moitra (of Parineeta fame) is working on the music for the movie, the lyrics of which is by Swanand Kirkire
Veer is an epic saga and taking center stage is the brave heart Veer (Salman Khan). Veer is the most valiant of the Pindaris, who are enraged by the British, who are imposing their Divide and Rule policy onIndia. It is not just the British that Veer has to fight against. The King of Madavgarh and his own people also need to be dealt with. Love, revenge, survival, and courage in the face of adversity, make Veer a mighty warrior.
Everyone wants to know what is Salman Khan’s dream project? And I am very excited about the release of Veer on 22nd Jan 2010. I have lived with Veer for 20 years and want you guys to live the movie with me through this blog.
Veer can be called my most awaited film till date. I had written the story of my dream project when I was shooting for the film Baaghi in 1990.
As a child, I saw the film Taras Bulba that beautifully showed a father-son sharing an extraordinary relationship. Being inspired from this, I always wanted to write a script revolving around this bond. I had the whole thing 20 years back and wanted to direct a film on this subject… Had dreamt of becoming a director but as fate would have it, ended up becoming an actor.
After showing Maine Pyar Kiya to my father, he didn’t react to the film at all. Finally, at 2 in the morning he called me and said, “You are going to be a STAR…a cult figure after this film…and after this if anybody can mess it up….ITS YOU!”
My biggest fear for Veer was that my father had asked me not to make this film! But when he finally saw the film, he came out saying … “IT IS OUTSTANDING!” which meant the most to me.
The film is set in the era of 1875 and is based on the love story of a warrior “Veer” and his clan of the fearless Pindhari warriors of the 19th century.
Veer is the biggest Bollywood film ever to be made and a movie like this is going to be written, directed & produced once in a lifetime…
Guys, I’m going to do my best to continue writing in about my experiences and this fabulous journey that’s …..VEER.
